Haven't tried Mines since I am hooked on slots, though I tried to play tower and I seldom goes above level 3, lol. It looks like there is an imaginary barrier after level 3 in which whatever I pick is an empty cell. That, or I just suck on guessing games T_T.
You should give it a shot. I'm not big fan of Mines nor slots but I have tried it out since playing on roobet always lots of fun. On roobet I played crash a big time of my entire day! For me Crash is working quite simple, it consists of a continually expanding line going up and multiplying your bet. This things make me insane all of the time. Crash Rocket is love!
I rarely go over level 3 too! In my opinion towers and mines are similar games, in both games you try to not hit the wrong field! Interface is different, and on this I give a little advantage to towers, I like towers a bit more, and I play it a bit more than I play mines, but I play both games from time to time.
Actually I played 'Towers' for the first time when Hhampuz announced Contest in 'Games & Rounds' section. Among all three difficulty levels, I preferred Medium because it had binary choice. Even though Easy had 67% chance of getting it right, making choice between two is always easier than three.

Earlier I had notion that hitting top once in 256 tries will land me in profit. But then I noticed the 'house edge' factor and that's where game gets tricky! Tower game is smartly designed and house edge increments at every successive stage. For the first level, house edge is 3% which increases to 6% in second level, 8.75% in third level and goes as high as 21.625% in the 8th level!!
So it's entire foolishness to play Tower game for more than 1 level. It's better to withdraw your amount after first level in case you win and repeat the process rather than try climbing to the top. And the reason why players fail to go past 3rd level is that house edge increases to 11.5% if you decide to play for the fourth level!! Not a smart choice if you deciding to play in long run.
