Still gives an error, test on windows wallet.
Did you try removing the program completely and reinstalling it? I suggest also run a good cleaner like https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner, then reboot before reinstalling, usually fixes most bugs in most programs. Don't forget to keep the wallet.dat file ofc.
There is also a known issue where the Windows wallet can crash when you open it for the first time. Re-opening the wallet should work, if that is the issue.
In the meantime I got my hands on a Windows machine and am downloading the blockchain from scratch. When it's complete I will upload that bootstrap.
