Well, I have to mention that of course I didn't browse through the complete posting history of BayAreaCoins when I opened this thread. But just to wrap up the whole case, it's obvious that he started a gun sales business a few years ago, which I completed in my initial posting:

November 27, 2013
[WTS] Guns for sale! Black friday special: 1/2 price shipping! *Pictures here* (Wayback)

At that time he must have had a FFL, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to offer gun sales on a commercial scale. And apparently he created such "sales" every week here on Bitcointalk (which again I didn't look up in his posting history because I just don't have the time):

At some point he most likely had to give back his FFL, but continued to deal in a commercial style:

I do not have and am not required to have an FFL.

As everyone can see in the pictures, the semi-automatic rifles got customized for rapid fire, i.a. with drum magazines with a hundred shots each. Therefore it's clear that this had to be subsumed under AR Code § 5-73-202(2) (2019). He later confirmed that he also possessed and sold so called bump stocks. Thank you, no further questions!
