You said yours has a GTX something and, GTX usually associates with GPUs. If you have GPU on your laptop, then you can GPU mine but do laptop's GPUs are not nearly as powerful as the normal one.
I don't think they are making CPU minable coins anymore but, you can try HDD one though.
