And what exactly would this hacker do? The blockchain is immutable, there is no way to get your funds back unless the scammer returns an equal amount to you.
Sure, a hacker can try to take down these scammy websites, or he can try to dox the scammer, but that's about it... You won't get your money back with this action, and (like you already mentioned) you run the risk of getting scammed by the hacker you hired.
