The Bank of Ghana's first deputy governor says the institution remains committed to piloting a central bank digital currency.
The central bank established a Fintech and Innovation office to foster development in the local industry and has in recent years adapted its organizational structure to respond to major changes in the payment sector in Ghana.
As reported, The Bank of Ghana has authorized Ghana commercial bank to issue e-money.

Does anywhere in the article it is mentioned about the virtual currency or cryptocurrency. E-money in my view is digital money, where the traditional fiat gets the digital form and access. For example each and every transaction we do associated with banks through third party services is a e-money transaction.
