Chain We are at block number 144,125 currently. We still have 65,875 blocks to go for the halving. It's a great opportunity to participate in mining since the block rewards are still at 50 XDS a block and the total hash rate is not too high right now.

Truly decentralized messenger. User soma42 in the XDS discord server has been working on a truly encrypted decentralized messaging application for a while now. It is working, but it's still in the alpha phase! It currently uses custom nodes to relay messages to other users, encrypted. It is still a work in progress. New features are added in every iteration. The ultimate goal is to have everyone set up these nodes which will eventually utilize XDS! It currently uses a terminal/retro style GUI.
