What matters is the amount of work the platforms put in to ensure their coin attain a level that it can be comparable with ethereum.at a point Bitcoin's value was worthless but due to constant work it is where it is today so as eth. Who knows. A new coin might come up tomorrow and with time and dedication it may surpass all the coins doing well now.
you are correct but i think EOS is almost close to becoming a giant because EOS has a much better advantage than ETH and has also been recognized by the Chinese government.
