Any ETA as to when the Solo option will be available? My winter-time Artoo unit (R4 with only half brains!) is ready to burn some watts.
I will try my R4 here (which is in the exact same condition as yours, only one hashboard), but it has Braiins OS in it and has been waiting months for this update (since getting auto banned isn't funny).
Too bad the stubbornness remains against letting people use Braiins OS for the main pool based on unproven fears of some unrelated incident in another pool 5 years ago that has nothing to do with replacing the chinese firmware from your asic miner. Its not like the pool needs the extra hashrate or anything...
Requiring an account for solo mining also makes this pool unsuitable for simple tests. Since the 'scare' is about phantom hashrate messing the main pool mine, the logical would have been to allow anonymous solo mining rather than anonymous pooled mining with automated ban.
Currently this pool allows anonymous pool mining but requires account for solo, when it should the opposite. Where is the logic in that? Its like enjoying the hassle of keeping a blacklist rather than letting anyone to solo mine where nothing matters. If you discover a cheater in the main pool ban the cheater by account rather than trying to finger print stuff that could, theoretically be spoofed anyway.
BTW: Braiins OS did not exist in 2015, so no. Just because you don't have proof doesn't mean it isn't true. The big whale miners are the most likely to produce this 'proof' quickly, but they are not attracted by little pools that won't even let them mine without getting banned in the first place. You are shooting yourself by keeping this baseless attitude against Braiins OS.
In the meantime, Kano thinks encrypting miner to pool communication (v2) is just a waste of bandwidth. Nothing wrong with stratum clear text json that lets everyone and their dog know what you mine, where you mine, and how much of it. Its not like there are hostile govs or crooks picking targets to kidnap you or anything. Typical "first world" mindset. And i bet he would love the extra lag a little bit of vpn protection would cause...
