Actually many people lost their job in this pandemic. Even my father lost his job. I was doing bounty and various contest to earn my pocket money now I am working more to earn some more money. Much small business wiped out as you said but some people still manage to earn a good amount of money by overcharging in various sectors in my country. Some people just take advantage of every kind of situation.
The people you mentioned who take advantage of such situations are mostly business owners and employers because they know how easy is it to hire the same skilled employee for cheaper for which they had to pay higher. earlier The revenue for the company is unchanged or maybe declined slightly but the way they are treating their employees is horrible, not just cutting their salary but delaying them and asking them to work extra hours without any overtime bonus.
One thing everyone must learn from these tough times is that times will change maybe in another year but the way your company/employer treated you in your bad time must never be forgotten and never work for such a company who doesn't respect your time, efforts and skills when you need them the most.
