The code has been left seemingly abandoned for a long time so I understand your disappointment with the lack of development but anybody can add to the code and make improvements to it, it is open source after all. I wish there was some serious update to the code as it might give the project the boost it needs to make it back in to the top 20 crypto by market cap.
so i suggest more community members join in

I agree and also I think something needs to be done about the circulating supply as I feel that its just too many coins circulating and with millions coming into circulation each year. Then I think we could see Doge return to the top 20 as the coin already has a huge community backing.
The deflation rate should hopefully help reduce that - better would be growth of the coin to new people - if organic growth can outstrip coin production then we are on to a winner without needing any changes. Its a shame more people didn't HODL in the summer
