4 years is a long time in crypto. Especially when you participate in an ICO it's very smart to keeo up to date.
And not much of an excuse to "not observe", the team sent multiple e-mails with their progress during and after the ICO. I still have them in my inbox.
Don't understand me wrong: I really hope he still can collect his ICO coins but I don't give it much of a chance.
