Seeing the revenue earned by BCCI through IPL most boards started their own leagues and to date they have not been able to equal the revenue amount of IPL.
And this is where things go wrong for the other boards. Everyone want to copy the IPL and establish their own franchise T20 leagues. They never do proper research on the viability of such leagues. Even smaller boards like the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have jumped in with their LPL. In most cases, these leagues end up as loss making ventures, because the boards overestimate the potential revenues.
Fan base for cricket in India is really huge and when elites know how to use their cricket enthusiasm for their profits then these kind of things will happen.Other cricket boards are also making money but not up to the level of BCCI and BCCI is making more profits than ICC I guess.
To be honest cricket is expected to be much shorter in the future and I am scared that it could end up the sport's future!
