I would rather call such events as "Scam-drops" as they not only dilute the meaning of airdrops, but also make people to move away from future events due to lack of trust.
There were many scam drops in the past that were created just to collected the data of the users, some of them enforced KYC and many were smart enough to avoid those for a few pennies and those were just scams just to collect documents. I used to join a few air drops in the past but not anymore for the past two years as it is not worth wasting your time.
