If your node is at the same height as the block explorer, you are good.
If your node is not at the same height, and you tried to send transactions without being in sync, those transactions might not occur until you are synced.
Don't send transactions unless your node is synced.
Sync has always been crap for people that don't stay synced 24x7.
Nothing new there.
