People are entitled to believe whatever they want to believe.
While I agree with this in principle, the problem quickly becomes "people are entitled to believe whatever they want to believe *without cost*"
And that is what we seem to run into. People want to "believe" that silver cures all ails, but then expect someone else to pay for their treatment when it sickens them and they turn blue. People want to "believe" that masks are an evil plague, but then expect someone else to get sick because they refuse to wear one.
Beliefs have costs, some are positive costs (like believing in gravity and not thinking you can fly) and some are negative (the reverse). The problem we run into is that these days people think they can expound their beliefs on others (this covers your scientologists and JWs and Mormons Bob) and expect the others to pay the costs of those beliefs.
And.... why not? When you can bring stupid lawsuits endlessly and aren't paying the costs of this why not do it? When you can bang on other people's doors and waste their time without consequence, why not? When you can make stupid decisions, wind up poor, then have someone else pay your bills, why not?
So... we need something better than "People are entitled to believe whatever they want to believe." that takes into account the cost on others. Even satanists do this, that whole "do what thou will" is followed by a statement saying and it harm none other. You can't expect someone else to subsidize your beliefs. They need to stand on their own merits.
Anyway, off my soapbox here.
