Hardly a panic.

Friedcat makes strategic moves not tactical ones. From all my readings he isn't chasing his tail like most of the other ASIC makers to pedal a few sub par chips before they go broke. ASIC's will come out when they will achieve their aim IMHO and that's when they are optimized in cost and performance while being produced and deployed in sufficient numbers to achieve a clear advantage.

Speculation is going to run wild. Stick to references from credible sources. One who is quoted, is known to have knowledge and would protest to being misrepresented. The rest is just noise.
