Bitcoin can prevent from inflation on a country, valuable, and no single authority can control it. Not like fiat, everyday it will loss it value since a government can print money.

But I wouldn't say Bitcoin can recover from crisis or safe heaven asset, since it's high risk and volatile. Bitcoin is still fairly new and doesn't have much adoption, so invest what you can afford to lose.
