There should always be a charity place, but you shouldn't brag about it. As the Sermon on the Mount says: "When you do alms, let your left hand not know what your right is doing."
I agree. But I think people are demonizing this a bit too much. There are people who somewhat ‘flaunt’ their good works by posting on social media. While some people might automatically think that people are doing good deeds just so they could post them on social media, I really have no problem with it as long as people are really getting help, and that hopefully some people would get sort of inspired to do the same.
