I found out I don't have a balance in my old wallet, that I sold about a year ago.
I would like to start using a wallet, but the new wallet I downloaded still has the old wallet's address scheme.
How to get around that so I can withdraw from exchanges to my wallet?
To withdraw coins from exchange you need MyEnergiWallet. You can create one here:
https://wallet.energi.network/accountThanks. Does this stake, and if so, what %?
In order to stake you need to setup Energi core node. Follow this guide bellow to get started.
https://docs.energi.software/en/staking-guideOK, I stake about 12 coins (VersionCoin, TruckCoin, HoboNickels, HODLCoin, Stronghands, Mintcoin, Elite (was 1337), InflationCoin, Bottlecaps, Stackbit, Stackbit, RAIN, OverpoweredCoin, CompoundCoin (original one), and Proof of Stake coin).
I have run the Energi Wallet, I think what you call "Energi core node." So, the blockhain is all downloaded. Most wallets don't change
their addressing scheme two years into the game. Why was that?
Can you see with my experience how this doesn't make sense? I don't want to download the whole blockchain again if I don't have to, although it's not a problem to do so.
With the transition to Gen3 (Etherum like platform) it required a new wallet address compatible on the new blockchain. Part of this process was doing the migration from Gen2 wallet to Gen3 MyEnergiWallet. After the migration process is completed, the old Gen 2 wallet address is no longer required. That is why the need for a new wallet address.
that of course goes into more indepth explanations if you have some time to look them over.
