Odysee is more user-and-community oriented than LBRY. It mainly focuses on the user experience. Odysee tries an attempt and approach to gain a wider audience, for example, those users who not familiar with cryptocurrencies,  Odysee replaces the LBC with a credits icon. Technically, Odysee is built on top of LBRY, and additionally has like and dislike features, and also a notification. In short, yes it is indeed kinda like youtube's "successor".
