It works as long as the driver installation doesn't.
Just so I understand: you can get it to compile if the driver installation doesn't work? That doesn't make sense to me -- you're missing an opencl dependency, and the opencl installation shouldn't care whether you have the default display driver or the latest AMD one (correct me if I'm wrong there).
Since your configure is complaining about missing opencl, I assume that's what is failing to install? If so, what errors are you getting? Or is it installing ok, and configure still complaining?
It installs and ./configure says it still isn't there.
If I get the fglrx to build, the video goes black and the machine can't be used anymore. If I install the distro-provided fglrx, I can get the OpenCL to install, but then ./configure keeps saying it isn't there even when I'm looking right at it. I posted it a few pages back.
There's no way I could ever mine back the value I've lost in wasted time. 16 hours a day for 5 days and I've got nothing. It just plain doesn't work. All the AMD drivers do is trash the system, I'm NOT doing that again.
Buy the card or it's got a date with my Mossberg Persuader. I'd rather have the money, but It'll feel good to blow this worthless piece of shit away... I've already lost more than it could ever give back.
