I am also against using meds to address depression. At some points in my life, I also experienced being depressed. But what saved me from this situation was to think the reasons why you need to stay alive, is it because of your parents, your kids ( which is actually the best motivating factor)? You need to look for something that will give reason for you to stay afloat in this cruel world. Also, if you are undergoing this lowest point of your life, better detach yourself from all forms of social media. You don't need to read from somebody about their vacation or parties. It will add more depression on you because you will tend to compare your life with others. This is what I learned actually, you need to be selfish and not bother the social media. Even if it means detaching yourself from your friends or family for quite a while. You need your alone time to figure out things for yourself.
Every person will get depression, but that is how they can manage their emotions and solve depression. If we can remember what makes us still survive, we will know how to stop it and not give up because of depression. We need to work hard in any situation and manage the emotion, especially when the emotion becomes bigger and we angry with the conditions, so we do not have to get depression. Maybe what we need to prevent depression is always feel grateful for what we can reach every day because not all people can do what we did.
