It depends if you want to ise brand new or second hand GPUs in your rig. Personally, when I was mining some years ago, I only bought used GPUs. They were cheaper and pretty easy to find.

Also, I have never came across a GPU that has broken down thanks to mining. I know that they exist but you shouldn't be afraid to use cards that have mined before.
Two of my 1070 ti cards failed mining. This is what happened. They worked fine for more than a year, then one day out of the blue the first one was not mining. I rebooted the rig and the card was not detected. Tracked down the problem card, put it in a solo rig and tried to boot. The card's fans would spin 100% but there was no signal to the display. Sent them back to the manufacturer and they were replaced. Both cards had the same identical symptom. 100% fan speed and no signal to the monitor. These cards' memory were overclocked to 700-725 mhz. Since then I only overclock them to 600 mhz. So the cards can fail mining cryptos with extreme memory overclocks.
