Should the United States impose democratization around the world? Is democracy suitable for all countries of the world?
We have seen the weak response of the United States in the Myanmar coup and some of the countries where there was a military coup. The United States merely imposed sanctions and expressed concern.
Are sanctions becoming a means of pressure?
No we should not impose our democratic republic around the world, it isn’t well suited for everyone (we are still trying to work it out:-) —-seriously though: Tulsi Gabbard’s stance on that was one of the reasons it was easy to get behind her.
Yes sanctions have always been a means of applying pressure.
I’m not feeling like our current form of governance is promoting liberty nor is the quality of information available to the average person sufficient to make daily personal choices let alone world affecting decisions.
Squatz1,
I am with you in thinking that we are not spending enough time creating (or even giving enough attention to) long term solutions. We seem to be a short attention span world right now, thinking in quarterly and short term surface fixes. People spend more time dosing on headlines than reading books.
Maybe someone will create a program where you can input a proposed policy—-or even better: the desired outcome and have it create solutions beyond our human ability.
