I hope that this initiative would spread further than the OP's places that they visit so more people can get some help, a little compassion towards a man is all it takes for that man to get back on his feet again. Wanted to donate but I am currently short on money as I am not a rich person and I too have things that need my attention.
I would love to suggest another thing although this one could be done when your team gets more donors, the suggestion is to create a essential kits for the homeless or something that they can use for a long time like tents, sleeping bag, survival kit or water.
