I still don't understand why XRP is considered a top 5 cryptocurrency? I really don't see any technology in XRP, it's just a few (a couple) of nodes that are run by the founders of the project. How can these coins be worth anything?

Whether a coin is worth something is determined by the law of the market, i.e. demand and supply. Demand may be because there is a need in the market, there is an opportunity to make money, or the product simply has good marketing. In the case of Ripple, it is about a little of all three, which does not change the fact that it is a terrible coin. The fact that it is in top5 is due to the very large MarketCap - the total amount of money invested in this coin.
The fact is that things around the Ripples are only getting worse. The company was recently sued by another US citizen lawsuit, where a man accuses the entire company of Ripple of selling more than $ 1 billion in unregistered securities to investors and of false claims about XRP's legal status. It seems to me that we need to follow your example and temporarily withdraw from support by investing in XRP.
