It's just that there is so much going into the new release it's just going to take a little longer... you can't rush perfection!
I guess as the value of the bitcoins donated goes up and up, they just have to keep adding new features.

There is a lot of people asking for the new forum software but there's only a fraction actually willing to put in time testing it out, I doubt theymos would ever release something new without it going through proper testing and whatnot - I love the current bitcointalk so doesn't bother me
