IMO, they've already got everything settled and done and Elon continues using Freewallet.
Unless you can show us a source, we don't even know if he actually still uses it; all we know that the issue was fixed. It's probably a safe assumption that he immediately withdrew the coins after getting a feel of the shadiness of that wallet.

Chances are that he setted up his own full node. 
Or at least he use open source and non-custodial SPV wallet, which is the opposite of freewallet
