This is the first thought that came to my mind after reading the content in OP and the next thing was yours which seemed to align direct with my thought, Lol... Well, i'm sure this user understands what he or she meant but, just had difficulty in passing the right message. So, I'll answer from my perspective.

Like we all know and you acknowledge, Bitcoin is a currency, same as every other currency in the world just that, it assumes a different nature and that is the fact that, its a code of some sort on the blockcahin. So, if some other currency is capable of bringing you either suffering or enjoyment, so also can bitcoin. What matters or decides the two is, what you use it for or what other persons (Hackers, scammers or bad investment) use it in doing on your behalf.
