competitive is in its word to compete or to join a competition , we dont boost our competitive spirit when we play alone but it will get boosted if you join a competition and you try your best  .

I guess it is much quite exciting playing with other competitors than just playing with your own, on your own matches. I guess from here you can develop your skills and tactics on how to beat them, and also fron here you can learn which strategies you have that need to retain or the one that need to change. For me, playing with your own was enjoyable also but you only limiting yourself from the fact that you can explore more about gambling or betting.
