I’m definitely a lone bettor. I do it to have fun. I think of it as entertainment and nothing more. When I watch sporting events it just feels like you’re on the team in a strange way when you’ve got skin in the game. Gives you a reason to celebrate as well. Who doesn’t like ordering a round for the bar after a big win knowing it’s paid for by the team. 
I am also a lone bettor myself. I prefer to bet on my own terms. Not a competitive one when it comes to betting. I only disturb myself on this simple pleasures of life.
Also, being a lone bettor, I don't have to worry about my bets or the amount of bets in place, that may somehow other people are looking at.
