If you receive fame and have fun by displaying the avatar then I am glad you found an avenue to express yourself 
I am somewhat confused as to why Foxpup or any other member would pay that sort of money in BTC for an avatar that brings no real benefit to the payer including no monetary.
No benefit? What about the fame? And the fun? And the attention of attractive people of various genders? (Yes, there's also the attention I get from unattractive people of mostly one gender in particular, but that's significantly less beneficial, at least to me.)
