So I bought BTC at £9000, made a nice amount. Is it a good idea to now sell this and move that money into alt coins? or should I sell half BTC and buy back in after alt season is finished?

I think you made a very good choice of selling your BTC after getting a good amount of profit. You also did the right choice to shift your money into altcoins especially we are seeing the altcoin dominance in the marketplace that is an indicator that we are now in the alt season.
