I hope you still managed to get out with some profit.  No coin is worth panicking over, or regretting over. Maybe in the future you could consider HODLing a small position in any coin you've researched deeply and felt the need to buy into. You never know when it might pump again, especially if you believed in it before.

Of course it's a different case for coins you might buy for speculation, or coins where there might be some kind of red flag that makes you no longer trust them. Eg: I sold all my XRP at around the 60 cent mark when the initial news about the SEC case came out, and I also learned more about what a mess it actually is. When they mooned last week, it stung a little but honestly, the peace of mind knowing that I'm no longer tied to that scam was worth it.

So yes, you're right, it's important to separate your emotions from your (hopefully) logical actions when you're in crypto. I wish you well!!
