I tried getting some free POD coins in the faucet posted in your OP. But is the confirmation of the transaction really take that long? Like days before it is fully confirmed in your network. This is not good if you are aiming to be in the payment method of merchants.

chicken and egg problem. Once we go past a certain point the network effect will kick in and miners will be processing at a much higher rate and bring processing times down to minimum. Getting involved now is becoming an early adopter. The future developments will add exponential value.
