It could be, and as far as I know there are other athletes requesting to be paid in BTC, and other accepting it as mode of payment, NBA Team Sacramento Kings to Offer Players the Option of Getting Salary Paid in Bitcoin. And in Chiefs Tight End Sean Culkin to Convert Entire NFL Salary Into Bitcoin. So you don't have to look in the future, it's already happening all over sports now.
