I am stating the obvious here but: did you updated the miBand firmware to the last version? You can do that trough the accompanying app.
As soon as the companion app got installed and the band got paired, the update has started. I don't even remember if I had to approve/acknowledge/click anything for that
Just I don't remember which companion app did this because I've installed Xiaomi Wear, then Mi Fit, then Xiaomi Wear again.
So I think I have the last. I have V1.0.0.34_android160
An interesting update:
* a post of mine was removed because an user got nuked -> 2 notifications
* your post where you quoted me -> 1 notification (!?)
Obviously, both are after the stop/start of notifications.
Glad it is all sorted now.

Regarding the double notification, I can't advise on that, never happened. Might be an issue with the bot?
