One of the great advantages of soccer over other sports is that you do not really need much equipment to practice it, other sports require that you have some special equipment that is relatively expensive and that cannot be bought in many poor countries, but when it comes to soccer you only need the ball, everything else can be substituted with free alternatives and you can still practice the sport, while in the case of baseball you still need a bat, many baseballs and gloves for everyone making it way more expensive to practice than soccer.
But to play it, you need to have a big open area which you have to find the goal from one side to the other side. I think there's not that much difference between it and basketball.
Both requires the ball and that's where the game mostly circulates. While in basketball, if it's all/whole court, you need to have the both sides too but in street basketball, you don't need to have both of it. Having one is enough.
Everything depends on the person playing it. We used to play football in the place where we play volleyball. It will be fun filled, and for the one looking it seems funny. However each and everyone gives their complete effort and the match will be truly interesting and enjoyable than playing in a perfectly measured football ground.
