Napoli once more fought back and secured its position for the Champions League qualifier. The most pressing question will be what happens to Juventus Turin should they miss the Champions League?
Can you guys imagine Ronaldo kicking in the UEFA European League next year? I highly doubt he would even consider doing that? Pirlo's time will probably come to an end if he fails to qualify for the UCL. It may not be fair but missing the UCL is hard not only for the club, but also for the fans and all superstars. Who knows what's left of Juve in 6 weeks from now?
Let me fix this: Napoli secured
temporarily a position for CL since if they lose their next game and Inter get a draw + Juve win then they are out.
For Juve, regarding Milan wasting 2 precious points and facing Atalanta next, then what a luck Pirlo has! Unless Napoli winning and Atalanta playing with its second team and their goalkeeper as striker, then getting a CL spot should be very possible for Juve.
Juventus may miss the Champions League for another non-sporting reason, because the story with the Super League is still not over, Juventus has not announced its withdrawal from it, so it is not entirely clear how UEFA can punish the club. On the sporting side, of course, the big news is that Milan couldn't win against Cagliari, although I think Pirlo would have preferred Napoli to lose points against Fiorentina and leave Juventus in fourth place before the last round. And now it turns out that not everything depends on Juventus and a loss of points from Milan or Naples is necessary. It is symptomatic that Pioli does not rule out Milan's non-appearance in the top four and does not consider it a failure.
I don't believe they will pull off the Super League. Look at the fan protests in Manchester. It's clear the fans don't want that and I can't see how it is supposed to work out when your fanbase is against you. I don't know what the attitude of Italian fans is towards the Super League, but I think the majority doesn't want it. It is similar to the Nations League. Who the heck watches the Nations League? I even forgot until recently that Portugal won it last time. I think I didn't watch a single game.
