Your expectations and reality are two completely different things, because no hardware wallet supports all possible coins/tokens through its interface - they all use third-party wallets for 99% of all coins. I guess it’s about the technical possibilities to make something like that, because every unique coin requires its own blockchain, which requires even more infrastructure and complicates things.
What is positive and only important is the fact that the hardware wallet gives us the ability to store our private keys in a secure environment - and for some other things we have to invest a little more time. If you want to deal with altcoins, be prepared for some compromises.
