An Internet computer is a digital token running on its own protocol called the Internet Computer Protocol, which allows anyone to create software or publish content on the Internet without using services from large companies such as Amazon, Google, or Facebook. The protocol, according to Dfinity founder Dominic Williams, provides an "anti-hack platform", reduces costs "dramatically", and is operable. He also said the protocol was intended to make the Internet "fun again", by enabling people to create a "new open Internet" and provide users with a "better deal".
