I think it is possible that, as the OP said, it is a statement spread by some Doge believers. They intend to make more people believe in Doge instead of Bitcoin, so that more people will buy Doge and the price of Doge can rise. But there is another possibility that FUD's remarks have begun to appear again. The communicators intended to cause panic and suspicion among consumers, and then they threw out the Bitcoin in their hands after the year. After the price of Bitcoin drops, they can buy it at a low price, wait for the price to rise, and then sell it at a high price. This is a conspiracy of dealers or some old players who have been in the currency circle for a long time. They try to use this method to buy bitcoins in the hands of new players at low prices.
