The main point of cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, is not to fix the fiat system, but to create a free, trustless network with no centralization of power.
You have a better explanation for the purpose of bitcoin. Owning Bitcoin is a really cool thing, because it is a really nice invention. And I also enjoyed the cheap transactions that I was able to do with bitcoin, but that has changed now, the transaction fees that we have to pay for Bitcoin is now high.
Last time that I used Bitcoin for a transaction and I was sending $50, I had to pay $15 dollars for it. So this time around I mostly HODL with bitcoin and don't use it for regular transactions. I have shifted to other altcoins that I make use of when I want to do small transactions like that, especially Tron. So bitcoin is now shifting to becoming more of an investment for me and not for a day to day usage. But it still remains the top choice of cryptocurrency for me.
