Would btc be liquid ? How would you even send and receive even if you do own the private keys to your coin?
Bitcoin won't be liquid but your holding are safe if you secure your private keys but the internet goes down, Bitcoin is the least of our problem because most businesses, POS terminal and social amenities of these day rely on the internet.
Still It's interesting to consider whether bitcoin really is comparable to gold in this sense
Bitcoin and Gold are not the same thing comparing them to each other won't be fair.

The COVID19 you mentioned is what showcase Bitcoin to the world and I don't know if you are aware that the pandemic is what make institutional investors join crypto, so Bitcoin does help a lot of people when the world goes to shit.
