June 12 is Nigeria's democracy day. This is a tradition celebrated every year, starting in 2000.  June 12 previously known as  Abiola Day, is celebrated in Lagos, Nigeria and some southwestern states of Nigeria. Nigeria's  Democracy Day is a holiday to celebrate the restoration of democracy in the Federal Republic ofNigeria.
