No, and I still don't think it is. We had online payments long before Bitcoin, we had fast and even instant payments before Bitcoin. we had hard money before. The original thing is decentralization, but its benefits are not easily perceived, because people actually don't deal with negative aspects of centralization in finance too often - most people never had their bank account frozen or their funds seized. Inflation is not felt sharply if its low. And at current state Bitcoin is more of an alternative to existing finance rather than its replacement.
