Respect to Salvador and it's president but one thing confuses me - will it be safe enough to hold bitcoin on the wallet built and controlled by government? I still believe that governments and hackers are the main threats to crypto community, may be I'm wrong putting them in a row.
The bill says that citizens are free to choose their preferred wallet. I think we shouldn't be worried about that right now. Let them increase adoption and let them use the gov wallet (developed by strike anyway).
Can't wait to see coinjoins and payjoins to buy everyday groceries.
Now, it was going to see the huge support of their government in Bitcoin, somewhat to think that adoption has made so fast in their place knowing how the President helps to promote it and guaranteed to keep it safe. But, if they are using the government wallet, this means that they are not in full control of their money, I was to think that their every transaction has been monitored by the third party. And every illegal activity could be trapped by using this and have no way to escape as if possible.

if a user has ill intentions, i dont think he will use the wallet provided by the government. they should know better.
however, this move from El Salvador is really great for adoption of crypto in their country. some will be curious and try exploring crypto. it will be an initial stage for some of its citizens to get acquainted with crypto. btc may be the start but later on they will learn other alts that has cheaper fees.
i believe, its neighbouring countries will also try to follow their path. let's see...
