Well, if Bitcoin wants to become a proper mean of payment, one should be able to use it to pay for his groceries or for the coffee in a coffee shop.
And while the coffee is actually doable, at least as processing time, the line in the grocery shop may not appreciate waiting for you, hence Bitcoin is not there yet.
