In the latest statement, President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador clarified that citizens will not be forced to use the government-issued "Chivo" Bitcoin wallet. Earlier news, El Salvador will launch the electronic wallet Chivo in September, and pre-deposit 30 US dollars in Bitcoin for those who download the wallet.
It is good to hear that government is allowing use of any wallet of your choice because this is the actual freedom provided for the use of these decentalized crypto in the market.Because creating a centralised app that can later on make restrictions for the users can be problematic so it's better to have various options available to the residents.

I tried to find that Chivo Bitcoin wallet that looks like a mobile app but I couldn't find it Google store, maybe because it is available only for citizens of El Salvador
or maybe because they will officially release new Bitcoin law and app in September of this year.
One more thing I noticed is that you must register with your phone number and facial recognition or kyc verification through the call center for creating new account, and I think this is all based on strike.me application.
I am not sure if this app is going to be open source, but it is good that people have freedom to use any wallet they want, and open source is always a better choice.

Yes you are right the app will be available for both iOS and Android in September after the law coming into effect that's why you was unable to find it on any of the store.

The app will be available on both Android and iOS. The wallet will also be compatible with other digital wallets on the market. It will be released later this year, with the bitcoin law coming into effect on Sept. 7.
